The birth of an individual who has the right to obtain Portuguese nationality must be registered at Portuguese Consulate of respective jurisdiction area

THROUGH MARRIAGE

 

A foreigner married to a Portuguese national for more than three years may acquire Portuguese nationality by means of a declaration made during the duration of the marriage.

A foreigner who, at the time of the declaration, lives in a de facto union with a Portuguese national for more than three years may acquire Portuguese nationality, after judicial recognition of the status by a civil court.

THROUGH GRAND PARENTS

The Portuguese Government shall grant the naturalization, to those persons born abroad with, at least, an ancestor on the 2nd degree of the accessory line of the Portuguese citizenship who has not lost such citizenship.
